Precious GEM, Cleontra Jones

Dear Family Members and Friends:

My name is Cleontra Jones and I am seventeen years old. I was born on a warm sunny day in June on the twenty second in the year of 1994. I am the middle child of 2 siblings. I have two brothers that are both younger at the age of 14 and older at the age of 20.  I am currently a senior at Rich East High School. I participate in Rich East Poms and I have been the captain of the team for two years. Throughout my high school years, I have always been in Honors and Advance Placement courses. I maintain a GPA of 3.833 out of a 4.0. I am dedicated, devoted, and have a caring nature, which makes my personality.  My main goal in life is to become the most successful I can be and in the end be looked as a role model for all the people I have helped.

I have been with CHARM for four years. CHARM is a very positive program that is a realistic approach that gives me a reality check of my life. CHARM benefits me in various ways. For example, CHARM has taught me how to sew, cook, etiquette skills, and even how to approach different obstacles or situations in life that may come my way. CHARM has taught me to not react to every situation that comes my way.  I have learned that it is better to sit back and observe the situation and outcomes before I throw myself into something. The best thing about CHARM is the community services. You actually go out into the world and see what real people experience. Also, an interesting thing that CHARM has brought to my attention is the guest speakers that come in to talk to us about their experiences. CHARM has given me a lot of life lessons that I plan to carry on with me into my future.

In the fall, I plan to attend Prairie State College for my first two years.  At the end of those two years I will be switching to Loyola University to continue my education. I plan to major in the nursing field throughout my college education. I want to go into the nursing field because I believe this job fits my personality. I want to help people and having this job will allow me to do so. My main goal in my college education is to become a nurse practitioner. I chose this specific specialty in nursing because I actually can provide patients with medical care for less than what it would cost to visit a doctor. Also, I can work independently without the need for doctor supervision.

With five thousand dollars in scholarship money, it would help me greatly in my education. One big advantage would not have to come up with money just to attend college. I have no money saved up for college funds and this will give me a boost for furthering my education.   Since I will be attending Prairie State for my first two years of college, the five thousand dollar grand prize will pay for both years of college; and not having the burden of college tuition for two years, will allow me to concentrate on my studies and not worry about how to pay for college.  Overall, if I receive the scholarship money, I would be even more determined to further my education to become a success.

Finally, let me take this opportunity to extend an invitation for you to purchase a dinner seat at my table for the cost of $60 per seat, purchase an ad, or simply give a donation towards the scholarship fund.  This may be a great networking event for you and maybe you would even like to lend your talents to CHARM in the future.  With your help, I know I will receive one of the available scholarships from CHARM.
